When to stop DIY and call a licensed pro
No unlicensed electrical how-to. Panel work, gas, springs, and wet-location wiring are stop lines.

Stop lines — hire a licensed pro
- Electrical: new circuits, panel or service changes, aluminum branch wiring, wet or damaged boxes, anything beyond a like-for-like bulb or fixture swap you are personally qualified to do on a de-energized, existing device. GFCI/AFCI problems. Outdoor receptacles for a pellet grill that do not exist yet.
- Gas: lines, valves, dryer or grill conversions, a smell of gas. Leave.
- Garage door springs and cables: wound springs store enough energy to maim. That is a garage-door technician.
- Structural / slab / roof leaks into the bay: cracks you can lose a pencil in, sagging headers, persistent moisture.
- Plumbing: new drains, water-heater work, anything that is not a shutoff you already understand.
DIY that this site will still talk about
Measuring a 12×20 bay. Hanging track into studs with the right fasteners. Sweeping, tiling a dry slab, assembling a kit bench, swapping a bulb on a fixture that already works. Organizing so a fire extinguisher is reachable with the overhead door shut.

Eyes and dust
Cutting tile or spinning a wire wheel without eye protection is how weekends end early. Look for ANSI Z87.1 on the mark — that is a standard, not a Bay One score.

How to hire without this site pretending to be a directory
Use your state licensing lookup. Ask for the license number. Permits exist for a reason. Bay One will not refer a trade or rubber-stamp a bid. If a project starts as a layout question and turns into a panel upgrade, that is the fork: email for editorial corrections, not for remote diagnosis of a live system.
